Reviews
Justine Azzopardi, St Annes

Les is a fantastic instructor and role model and I would highly recommend him for PDI training. His driving and teaching knowledge is extensive and he has the rare ability to understand what support an individual needs in order to best progress. He uses role play to give structure and real-life experience to his lessons, keeping you on your toes and challenging you throughout. For anyone who is considering a new career as a driving instructor and wondering where to start or whether it is the right fit for you, Les is definitely a great person to discuss this with.
Ali Hussain, Bolton

Les is a highly knowledgeable and competent ORDIT trainer. His teaching style not only builds strong driving skills but also inspires learners to continuously seek knowledge and improve themselves. He has a unique ability to motivate his students to think, reflect, and grow with confidence. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for high-quality instructor training.
Steve Rogerson, Preston

Fabulous trainer, Les's knowledge and tailor made training is just superb. Calm and reassuring throughout my journey to becoming an ADI helping me pass parts 2 and 3 first time. Les's role play as a student really makes a massive difference throwing in curve balls that get you thinking and reacting ready for helping real students. Can't recommend highly enough.
Become a Driving Instructor (ADI)
To become a driving instructor in the UK you must first qualify
To be legally eligible to operate as a driving instructor in the UK you need to successfully pass all three parts of the DVSA ADI examination shown below. However, you can practice and earn money for 6 months as a trainee driving instructor after passing Part 2 with a sponsoring driving school such as Teach2Drive ready to be inspected at the Part 3 stage. Only when you pass the Part 3 test/inspection will you become fully qualified and entered onto the DVSA's Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) Register.
-
Part 1 - Theory Test (i.e. PC based multiple choice and hazard perception test similar to the L-test)
-
Part 2 - Driving Test (i.e. watching you drive to a good standard similar to the L-test)
-
Sponsorship on a Trainee Licence or Teach for Free to gain on-the-job experience with real pupils
-
Part 3 - Instructional Ability Test/Inspection (i.e. watching you deliver a successful driving lesson to one of your pupils)
In addition to the above you will need to be over 21, have held a driving license for at least 3 years (with no more than 5 penalty points on your license) and have passed a DBS check.
The Dream Job
Once you are passed Part 2 you can start to earn money by joining our driving school as a trainee instructor to get the necessary practical experience essential to passing Part 3 and learning about the business side of running your own driving school. Teaching people for free is an alternative way to get this vital practical teaching experience if you can afford to instruct part time without pay.
For the right kind of person this is a DREAM JOB
If you genuinely care about people and take pride in your driving this is definitely the right job for you. Be your own boss, choose your own hours and look forward to going to work every day.
Take control of your own destiny and take the first step right now. In our view the pleasure from seeing one of your learners master a skill or pass the driving test simply can not be surpassed.
Fantastic job satisfaction, flexible hours, charging £35 to £50 per hour, working locally from home and being your own boss. Annually you could earn up to 70k - What more could you ask for?
Franchise or not?
Some people prefer to "work" for one of the bigger players in the industry - with the perception that there are extra benefits to being part of a large often national organisation. There is also a common belief that you need to be sponsored by a "driving school" in order to train under the DVSA trainee licence scheme. These franchise inevitably require a costly "TIE IN" and incur very large weekly costs.
I choose to work closely, as a business partner, with just one local driving School - Lancashire Learners (LLDT) - they are simply the best in the North West of England. They offer a great local package, Instructor support and all the benefits of being part of a flourishing team.
For those that prefer to eventually run their own businesses, I also provide a support package during the training period costing just £35 per week it is a very low cost option compared to most companies. The benefits are NO extended contracts, full, unlimited support to qualification, website and local advertising on your behalf, and you are totally free to leave once you pass part 3. You can be up and running your own independent business in no time at all. More franchise info HERE
