Driving Lessons in Blackpool and the Fylde coast
Learning to drive in Blackpool means learning on real seafront traffic, tram lines, and one-way systems — not quiet estate roads that don't match your test. Teach2Drive has been training learners and instructors across Lancashire since 2004, and our Blackpool students are prepared specifically for the routes, hazards, and manoeuvres used at the local test centre.
Your instructor will build lessons around the roads you'll actually be tested on: tram crossings and pedestrian areas around the Promenade, the one-way systems near the town centre, and the faster dual-carriageway sections approaching the M55. We cover all three current manoeuvres — parallel park, bay park (forward or reverse), and pull up on the right with reverse — in the same locations examiners use.
Manual and automatic lessons are available, block booking discounts apply, and every instructor is DVSA approved and DBS checked.
Blackpool Test Centre
Blackpool practical tests are held at: Unit 8, The Pavilions, Avroe Crescent, South Shore, Blackpool, FY4 2DP
This centre opened in April 2025, replacing the previous Clifton Road site. Test routes take in tram-heavy sections of the Promenade, so tram signal awareness is a key part of our local lesson plan — this catches out learners who've only trained inland.

Do I need to practise with trams around? Yes. Blackpool is one of the few UK towns with tram-sharing sections, and examiners expect confident handling of tram signals and level crossings. We build this into your lessons from day one.
How many lessons will I need? This depends on prior experience, but most learners need 30–40 hours combining professional lessons with private practice. Your instructor will give you an honest assessment after your first lesson.

Lytham St Annes
Learners in Lytham St Annes train on a mix of quiet coastal roads and the busier A584, with the Blackpool test centre (FY4 2DP) the nearest option. Lessons focus on roundabout confidence around the St Annes/Lytham border and rural approach roads for independent driving sections.
Fleetwood
Fleetwood learners are prepared for the A585 approach into Blackpool, roundabout-heavy sections around Broadway, and dock-area traffic. The Blackpool test centre is the nearest DVSA site, roughly 20 minutes away.
Poulton-le-Fylde
Poulton sits between Blackpool and the M55, giving learners useful exposure to both town-centre driving and faster dual-carriageway sections. Test centre: Blackpool (FY4 2DP).
Cleveleys / Thornton
Coastal roads, roundabouts on the A587, and tram awareness heading south into Blackpool feature heavily in lessons for learners based in Cleveleys and Thornton.
